Joseph S. Roberson | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Joseph Slade Roberson, age 89, a former resident of, 1845 Tunstall Swamp Road, Edward, N.C. , died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

    Mr. Roberson was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 5, 1924. He was the son of the late Joseph Slade Roberson Sr. and Rowena Fulcher Roberson. Mr. Roberson was a farmer and well driller. On June 10, 1942 he married the late Mrs. Nancy Dorcas Warren. They are survived by two sons, Delano Warren Roberson and wife, Barbara of Edward, Joseph Slade Roberson II of Cary, N.C.; two grandchildren, Calvin George Roberson and Lee-Anna Nicole Roberson both of Edward ; one great grandchild, Isabella Nancy Alexander of Edward.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Terry Casey Sr., Calvin Roberson, Larry Smith, Benny Grubbs, Carl Cayton and Ed Austin.

    In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by several sisters, brothers and a step- father, Mr. Johnny Williams.

    The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.

    Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, June 16, 2014 at Smyrna Free will Baptist Church, Blounts Creek, conducted by Dr. Robert Cayton. Burial will follow in the Fulcher Family Cemetery, Edward.
