Press Release:

Washington – The N.C. Division of Workforce Solutions is realigning its services to better meet the needs of North Carolina job seekers and businesses following reductions in the Division's federal and state funding.

The Division is analyzing the delivery of workforce services throughout North Carolina to find efficiencies and align administrative costs where necessary. Steps to improve efficiency include cross-training staff members and implementing the job-search website, NCWorks Online, a one-stop platform to streamline the job search process. These changes will provide increased customer services, more quickly connecting clients to the opportunities they need.

The Washington local workforce office is currently located at 112 West Third Street. Effective June 27, 2014, the office will move to the following address:

Beaufort County Career Center
1385 John Small Avenue
Washington, NC 27889

The local office will be open 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

Citizens will continue to have access to the same workforce services as other offices, including free Internet access and resume preparation, as well as career counseling and assistance using the job-search website NCWorks Online.

"Our workforce programs are essential to helping people train for and find employment, so it's crucial that we develop ways to more efficiently serve our communities," said Will Collins, Special Assistant for Workforce Development. "These adjustments help us succeed in our mission: to strengthen North Carolina's economy by connecting employers to talented job seekers."

    About NC Works Online

NCWorks Online is a free service that provides several benefits to job seekers and employers. Job seekers can search job posts pulled from thousands of websites and receive alerts through email and text message. Employers can post jobs to find the talent they need, as well as take advantage of real-time labor market information that will assist them in making competitive offers to recruit talented workers.
