So Rorie was hired on April Fools Day? If, as some have posted, his hiring was in closed session and no public vote taken, the joke may be on him, as that may bring his contract into question.

It seems that the Sadler boys, Tyree and Horton, headed the lynch mob, and the others joined in. One wonders what the agenda of Tyree and Horton is on this matter? It may put the city in a worse place than with Rorie. Rorie was no prize, but we may go from the frying pan into the fire.

Will Rorie get another golden parachute like the last "fired" city manager?

then there is the question of who would undertake to be acting city manager. Bobby Roberson did a great job, in spite of some council members, but given everything that has happened, it is doubtful he would consider it again.

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - Washington has fired its city manager after just over three months in the position.

During an hour-long closed-door session on Thursday afternoon, the Washington City Council voted unanimously to let Jonathan Rorie go from the role.

Councilmembers cited concerns over police staffing shortages and emergency communication operations.

Rorie started on April 13 and had an $185,000 salary on a two-year contract. He replaced Jonathan Russell, who resigned in November.

Rorie was most recently town manager for Spring Lake. WTVD says he was fired from that job in February by a 3-2 vote.
