Barbara L. LaBarbera [UPDATED] | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Barbara Marie Lounsbury LaBarbera, age 78, a resident of 101 Cowan Street, Washington, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Memorial services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Sam Grist and Rev. Jim Reed.

    Mrs. LaBarbera was born in Mount Kisco, New York on July 7, 1936 to the late George and Elsie Harrison Lounsbury. She was a 1954 graduate of Bedford Hills High School in New York. On May 6, 1955 she married Flavio Salvatore "Sonny" LaBarbera who preceded her in death on December 29, 2004. She owned and operated S & B Communications and Rainbow Realty. Mrs. LaBarbera was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Civitan on the Pamlico. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She always made a special effort to keep in touch with friends and had a passion for helping others.

    Survivors include two daughters, Patty Peebles and husband Bill of Washington, Janice LaBarbera of Washington, three sons, Richard LaBarbera and wife Susan of Wake Forest, Tom LaBarbera and wife Mary of Washington, Mike LaBarbera and wife Katy of Grimesland, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

    The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of her daughter and son in law, Patty and Bill Peebles, 113 Nicholas Road, Washington.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, The Land Fund, 88 N. Asbury Church Road, Washington, NC 27889.
