Kathy J. Sawyer | Eastern NC Now

    Ms. Kathy Jo Sawyer, age 55, a resident of 1151 West Pungo Street, Belhaven, NC died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at West Belhaven Church of Christ and will be conducted by James Scheffler and Arthur "Bud" Ball. Burial will follow at Belhaven Community Cemetery. Sport Sawyer, Kevin Sawyer, Clay Cooper, Ryan Cooper, Chris Craddock and Lee Williamson will serve as pallbearers. The church officers of West Belhaven Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Ms. Sawyer was born in Bertie County on January 8, 1959 to the late Thomas Ruffin Sawyer and Violet Christine Rose Sawyer. She graduated from Pungo Christian Academy, attended Mid-Atlantic Christian University Legacy: Roanoke Bible College. Ms. Sawyer had worked as a secretary for the Swain Gas Company. Ms. Sawyer was a member of the West Belhaven Church of Christ.

    Ms. Sawyer is survived by a daughter, Carson Sawyer of Belhaven, two sisters, Patricia Sawyer Cooper and husband Larry of Elizabeth City, and Carolyn Sawyer Craddock and husband Rayon of Belhaven, and a brother, Freddie Sawyer and wife, Diane Sawyer of Belhaven.

    The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home.
