    Evelyn Pearl Hyatt Brown, age 88, a resident of 106 N West Ave, North Shores, Washington, NC, died Tuesday December 16, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    A Memorial Service will be held Friday December 19, 2014 at 106 N. West Ave, North Shores, Washington, NC 27889 at 1:00PM

    She was born on January 3, 1926 in Ahoskie, NC and reared there. She was the daughter of Henry Lavina Hyatt and Mary Wilson Hyatt. She graduated from Ahoskie High School as an honor student and outstanding Pianist. She graduated from Women's College of UNC (Later UNC Greensboro, NC) and school of Social Work, UNC Chapel Hill, NC. She retired as a state probation and parole officer after 46 years of state employment. She was presented with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor James Martin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, and held several positions including Chairman of group 3 for 55 years. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years.

    Mrs. Brown married Thomas Edward Brown on August 1, 1954. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1982. She is also preceded by her only brother James Henry Hyatt on September 20, 2011.
