    Mrs. Myrtle Parvin Dudley, age 93, a resident of Washington died Monday morning January 5, 2015 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Center.

    A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday January 7, 2015 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Dudley was born in Beaufort County on April 3, 1921, daughter of the late Robert Parvin and Mary Singleton Parvin. She was a member of the 1939 graduating class of Washington High School. Mrs. Dudley was an employee of the Beaufort County Health Department and retired in 1984 with 19+ years of service. After retirement, she worked part time with the Mid East Commission. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington and was active in many church related activities.

    On February 24, 1942 she married Francis Rudolf Newsome. On August 27, 1950, she married William Charlie Dudley and he preceded her in death on October 30, 1967.

    She is survived by her stepdaughter: Lenora Needham of Covington, GA; her granddaughter: Melanie Holshouser and husband David of Suffolk, VA; two great granddaughters: Emily Frances Holshouser and Laura Anne Holshouser and other extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter: Frances Ann Newsome Dudley; two step daughters: Katherine Potts and Stella Daniels; her brothers: Blount Parvin, William A. Parvin, Patrick K. Parvin, Marshall S. Parvin, David E. Parvin and James Burbank Parvin and her sister: Dera Parvin Price.

    The family will receive friends 1:00-1:45 PM on Wednesday prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
