Prejudice Racks the Republicans and Conservatives of America | Eastern North Carolina Now

    I have a "good" elderly retired USAF Colonel who sends me all the hate stuff over our President. I was down at Havelock on Election Day. I heard unbelievable hate speech from military personnel. It is our adjourning county, but it is Eastern NC. Those military personnel come from all over the USA.

    I heard the same kind of stuff from my SC Democrat farmer Grandfather who was a son of the South. HOWEVER, there is a vast difference between his empty southern vindictive and real hate in the heart.

    Retired 4-star General and member of the Bush Cabinet, General Colin Powell was on the national analysis of politics yesterday with these words:

    This is a man of color who has risen to the highest levels of US influence. He was in charge of war against invading troops overseas, yet he speaks truth even in the face of political ostracism.

    "Former Secretary Of State Colin Powell delivered some harsh words for the GOP as a whole on Sunday.

    In an appearance on NBC's "Meet The Press," Powell noted that there is a "dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party."

    "What do I mean by that?" he explained. "What I mean by that is they still sort of look down on minorities."

    Some will try and dismiss it just as they are Torture of Muslim Prisoners of War against our promises not to do such in the Geneva Convention. The dismissal on Torture is "they were terrorists." NO

    THEY WERE CAPTURED SOLDIERS!!!!

    Listen carefully. Think even more carefully about hate in the hearts of white Americans. Sadly, it extends to all immigrants who have come to this country in search of freedom and equality over the last 50+ years.

    What troubles me most about my bitter old retired friend of USAF service is HE RODE IN MISSISSIPPI WITH THE FREEDOM RIDERS! Despite all my encouragement to him to look at his bitter heart before he dies, his real old age dementia is keeping him from stopping his hate. Almost every day he sends me something dismissive and hateful about his Commander-In-Chief. His blathering is stirred by many friends who stoke his hate.

    In my view, ANY member of our military who disrespects his superior office has violated his oath taken to "obey the orders of those over me." They do not even precede their hard hearts with . . . "all due respect, Sir."

    Should such elder members of the military receiving a nice tax-paid retirement each month IMMEDIATELY get court marshaled of simply lose their pension????

    How about those still on active duty?

    How about each of us who pay the taxes to support this hate in Congress and the Military?
