Obituary: Lonsdale “Dale” Clifford Mitchell | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Lonsdale “Dale” Clifford Mitchell, age 62, a resident of 204 Appomattox Lane, Chocowinity, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

    Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church and will be conducted by Rev. Lee Kinney.

    Mr. Mitchell was born in Richmond, Virginia on June 23, 1948, to the late Henry Clifford and Minerva Roper Mitchell. On January 17, 1970, he married Patricia Gaye Price who survives. He was a 1966 graduate of Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Missouri. In 1970 he received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hanover College and in 1981 he went on to receive a Masters degree in Management from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. Mr. Mitchell served in the United States Navy from 1970 until 2001, retiring as a Captain.

    Survivors include his wife of the home, Patricia; one son, Kevin Scott Mitchell and wife Jenny of Brambleton, Virginia; one daughter, Leslie Jaye Lochman and husband Rob of Charlotte; one brother, Grant Mitchell and wife Mary Ann of Marietta, Georgia, and five grandchildren, Caroline Mitchell, Emily Mitchell, Isabelle Lochman, Jayson Lochman and Henry Lochman.

    The family will receive friends at Cypress Landing Bay Club following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Missions Fund, 211 W. 2nd St. Washington, NC 27889 or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.
