    Mr. George Brown Whitaker, Sr., age 71, a resident of 101 Fenner Lane, Washington, died Saturday February 14, 2015 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church and will be officiated by Rev. James Greene.

    Mr. Whitaker was born in Beaufort County on August 16, 1943 and was raised by his aunt and uncle the late Horace Sr. and Margaret Mayo. On December 9, 1991 he married Brenda Gayle Houston who survives. He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School, served in the United States Navy and was a member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church.

    Survivors include his wife, Brenda G. Whitaker of the home, three daughters, Rachel Annette Clark and husband Jeffrey of Greenville, Deborah Whitaker Hall and husband Darren of Greenville, Gina Whitaker Coffey of Buford, Georgia, one son, George B. Whitaker, Jr. of Dallas, Georgia, three step sons, Stephen J. Boling and wife Paula of Miami, Florida, Bryan K. Boling and wife Barbara of Holly Springs, Georgia, Phillip S. Boling of Canton, Georgia, two brothers, Horace Mayo, Jr. and wife Kim of Washington, Jimbo Bingham of Waynesboro, NC, two sisters, Marion Alligood and husband Steve of Washington, Ellen Taylor and husband Mack of Bryson City, NC, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
