Samuel L. Fyle, Sr. | Eastern NC Now

    Samuel L. Fyle, Sr., age 88, a resident of Jones Bridge Rd., Pinetown, NC, passed away on April 8, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center.

    Mr. Fyle was born in Havre de Grace, MD on July 22, 1926 to the late James William and Blanche (Smith) Fyle and attended school in Havre de Grace, MD.

    On July 27, 1946, he married the former Hattie Mae Windley, who predeceased him in 2009. He is survived by his children: Samuel L. Fyle, Jr. ( Sandra) of Belhaven, NC and William T. Fyle (Christy) of Wilson, NC; one brother, H. Allen Fyle (Marie) of Fallston, MD; grandchildren: Adam Thomas Fyle (Edwina), Matthew Stephen Fyle, Bradley Scott Fyle, Samantha Lawson Fyle, Samuel L. (Trey) Fyle, III, Katie Elizabeth Fyle, Amanda Leigh Fyle, William Thomas Fyle, Jr.; great grandchildren: Farrah Elizabeth Fyle, Bristol Grey Fyle, Ryder Scott Fyle and Bradley Knox Fyle; step-grandchildren: Kyle Coates, Amber King (Michael); and step-great grandchildren: Cody King and BrayLeigh King.

    He began working with Federal Mogul Corporation as a counterman and later was promoted to the position of Sales Manager. During his employment there, he was voted as salesman of the year 16 times, and retired after a 35 year career. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years as Hospital Corpsman Second Class. In his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling and square dancing.

    A celebration of his life with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Harold Swinson. Adam Fyle, Matt Fyle, Bradley Fyle, Trey Fyle, Tommy Fyle and Dalton Windley will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and travel to the cemetery in procession. The family will also receive friends other times at the home.
