That being said, it is obvious that an infantryman was not in camp very long. The Army helicopters were busy transporting squads to perform maneuvers like the Cloverleaf.

I served with a Navy reconnaissance squadron. The problem was the jungle hides men and material and low tech transportation like bicycles and oxen. Underground bunkers and the tendency to move at night frustrated photography.

Modern reconnaissance works great in deserts and urban areas.

So, to find the enemy the Army put men in the jungle and found them old fashion way-Search and Destroy with boots on the ground.

Once found, the Artillery would engage and if necessary the Air Force would respond.

My Vet buddies tell great stories and suggest books and Netflix and provide Links to websites full of documentaries.

I hope this introductory series has given you an overview.

In the future, the vets might tell stories with more detail.

Underwear chaffs when it gets wet. Just like a diaper would. Leeches can get in any area that is not secured. They don't cause pain but attach themselves and can draw a good amount of blood if not removed.
