    Mrs. Sudie Mae Silverthorne Cox, age 74, a resident of 15 Juniper Drive, Washington, died Thursday May 22, 2015 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held 3:00pm Tuesday May 26, 2015 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Lt. Bruce Rabon and Lt. Goldie Rabon. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

    The family will receive friends Monday May 25, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

    Mrs. Cox was born in Beaufort County, NC on September 10, 1940 to the late Dave Silverthorne and Eliza Vick. On September 24, 1960 she married Roland Cox, who survives. She worked at National Spinning for 24 years. Mrs. Cox served the Salvation Army for 10 years and served as church secretary. She had many hobbies including plastic canvas, needle point and crocheting. She also enjoyed reading, especially Christian fiction books. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and always loved watching her grandchildren.

    In addition to her husband, survivors include two children, Susie Pauline Cox Kelly and husband Joe of Greensboro, Peggy Sue Cox Norman and husband Sam of Washington, two grandchildren, Phillip Kelly and wife Krista of Greensboro, Stephen Norman of Washington, one great grandchild, Kaylie Kelly, one sister, Faye Bryant of Washington and many nieces and nephews.

    She is preceded in death by a sister, Ida Pearl Beacham, and one brother, David Silverthorne.
