Dorothy B. Whitaker | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Dorothy Boyd Whitaker, age 89, a resident of Washington, NC died Monday June 8, 2015 at River Trace Nursing Center.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 11, 2015 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor Bryan Griffith.

    The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 10, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Mrs. Whitaker was born in Beaufort County on May 13, 1926 daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Boyd and the late Mary Emma Coltrain Boyd. She was a 1944 graduate of Bath High School and on January 19, 1952 she married Thad Thomas Whitaker who preceded her in death on December 2, 1998. Mrs. Whitaker was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

    Survivors include a son: Randy T. Whitaker and his wife Nancy of Bolivar, OH; two daughters: Ioma W. "Dale" Hobbs and her husband Terry of Holly Ridge, NC and Amy M. Whitaker of Washington; five grandchildren: Christopher T. Whitaker and his wife Dawn of Canton, OH, Timothy J. Whitaker of Canton, OH, Michael A. Whitaker of Bolivar, OH, Rebekah H. Evington and her husband Paul of Mills River, NC and Matthew A. Hobbs of Holly Ridge, NC and six great grandchildren: Alexis B. Whitaker of Canton, OH, Tyler A. Whitaker of Canton, OH, Payton R. Whitaker of Canton, OH, Trenton M. Whitaker of Bolivar, OH, Kolton M. Whitaker of Bolivar, OH and Noah S. Evington of Mills River, NC. She was the last living child of her parents' six children.
