Alice M. Cherry | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Alice Meekins Cherry, age 81, a resident of 820 Mill Road, Washington, died Monday, June 15, 2015.

    Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, June 18 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Pastor David Linton.

    Mrs. Cherry was born in Bath, N.C. on May 26, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Brownie Meekins and Donnie Del Woolard Meekins. Mrs. Cherry was a homemaker and a member of the 10th Street Church of Christ. In her spare time, she was an avid gardener and photographer.

    Mrs. Cherry was married to Seth Bridgeman Cherry, who preceded her in death, August 18, 2012.

    Mrs. Cherry is survived by a daughter, Beverly Cherry Allamon and husband, Chester of Greenville; a son, William B. Cherry and wife, Connie of Washington; two brothers, Berry (Jim) Meekins and Maxey W. Meekins both of Washington; a sister, Del M. Woolard of Washington; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cherry was preceded in death by a son, Russell Cornelius Cherry and two brothers, Brownie N. Meekins and Leary Ford Meekins.

    The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Beverly Allamon, at 384 River Birch Drive, Greenville.
