Press Release:

High Point, N.C. — Governor McCrory participated in a groundbreaking ceremony today for High Point University's School of Health Sciences and School of Pharmacy.

"Nothing compares to how North Carolina's colleges and universities are preparing the next generation to compete globally for jobs," Governor McCrory said. "Today's groundbreaking represents an incredible commitment and investment in our state's future by helping to meet the need for high demand jobs in a growing and important field both in North Carolina and around the world."

The new 220,000 square foot facility will continue High Point University's expansion and allow 700 more students to study pharmacy, physical therapy, and other related fields. Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows demand for providers in these fields will grow up to 38 percent by 2022.

This expansion will make High Point University home to the only pharmacy school in the Piedmont Triad and the fourth in North Carolina.

The two schools will add 100 new jobs at High Point University and provide a $90 million economic impact.
