Red McDonald sent me this tip and I could not help but pass it on.

Red McDonald sent me this tip and I could not help but pass it on.

Sometimes when we get old we need to conserve our energy. I have a rain gauge in the back yard but sometimes I have trouble reading the level. The float is not a clearly visible through these old eyes as they used to be.

Red told me to put a few drops of Red Food dye in the gauge so it would be more visible. I can now accumulate almost 5 inches before I have to walk out to empty the gauge. I also have a telescope to monitor the level. This picture was taken using telephoto lens at F5.6 and 125th shutter speed. No tripod was used but there is a chair to lean on.

Why would I even track this information? I have a computer, Excel and OCD. Any other questions?

    Have a good Day!
