Trump's own version of Operation Wetback | Eastern North Carolina Now

Well, as my old dad used to say "I think you might have finally stepped in the s#*t." Maybe the Donald has finally done the same. Check the headlines for the Wetback reference. It was the name of the 1950's deportation plan.

The Boeing 747 passenger version can accommodate 416 passengers in a typical three-class layout, 524 passengers in a typical two-class layout, or 660 passengers in a high density one-class configuration. (Wiki). Let us be generous and say we deport the illegal aliens back in the three class version if a Boeing 747.

If we take the low estimate of about 11,000,000 illegal aliens and deport one plane load a day (416) that would only take 11,000,000 ÷ 416 = 26,442 days or roughly 72 years. That does not account for new births among the waiting.

I am in total agreement that we have an immigration problem that is totally out of control. However I do not think that it is the fault of the people coming in, I believe it is the fault of our archaic an unreasonable laws that do not allow us to use modern technology to register and track the immigrants. This should apply to all potential immigrants to the USA as well as those currently here under Visa or temporary legal status.

I am by nature a law & order adherent, and certainly think we should address the immigration issue head on. However, as a second generation American, I do not want to forget that this nation has benefited greatly from immigration. I know my family has.

We need to document immigrants, track their status while they are here and deport the criminal element among them as soon as they are convicted of a serious crime.

However, we should be aware that the history of immigration in the United States has always started with immigrants doing the job that he American citizens did not want to do or they were fleeing the conditions in their home country. They eventually would assimilate into the American society. I am in agreement somewhat with the theory that most immigrants are here in order to better their way life or that of their family's. I believe it is because our capitalistic system has provided more benefit to more people than any other system yet devised by man.

If we follow the liberal viewpoint, that America is a terribly flawed and racist country we are missing the point; not to mention that we are the most generous country on the face of this earth. Please take a look at rest of the world. We are the shining city on the hill.

I was recently sent a short video clip that explains the problem of immigration throughout the world and how the United States cannot solve the problem with an immigration policy. I encourage you to watch thus 6:00 minute video.

Here is the link to the above YouTube Video (6:00)

I do not pretend to have the answer or the solution to our immigration problems but I am convinced that mass deportation is not the solution. I am also 100% convinced that the United States government has no possibility of ever solving this problem based on our experience with the VA system, the healthcare system and the welfare system that saps the human spirit from the very people it purports to help. Someone once said Government is the problem and not the solution.

The Kingston Trio released a song in 1964 that was written by Woody Guthrie in 1948 . It describes a plane crash that resulted in the deaths of 32 people, 4 Americans and 28 migrant farm workers who were being deported from California back to Mexico. They were described as "Merely Deportees" The Wiki link to Woody Guthries' song

Deportees written by Woody Guthrie and sung by the Kingston Trio.

Perhaps the solution is to encourage other countries to create a capitalistic system that can improve their citizen's life. As we drive down the fast lane toward socialism, I would like to have a least one country somewhere left in the world where perhaps my heirs can immigrate for the freedom that we are so willing to give up here and now.
