James V. Alligood | Eastern NC Now

    James Vernon Alligood, 77, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Monday, March 7, 2016, at Winchester Medical Center.

    Jim was born in 1938 in Washington, North Carolina, the son of the late Mildred Frances and Dallas Vernon Alligood. He was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1956. He had a distinguished career that spanned over 37 years with the U.S. Government and various agencies including the State Department, the CIA and private contractors.

    He married Barbara Jefferson on October 29, 1961, in Dillon, South Carolina.

    Surviving with his wife and his beloved dog, Wicket is his daughter, Charlotte Passman and husband, "Pete"; Vernon Wayne Alligood and wife, Debbie Goodrum all of Front Royal, Virginia; grandchildren, Crystal Marie Duvall aka "Dingy" and husband, J.T., Ashley Ann Alligood, step grandchildren, William Goodrum and wife, Jacquelyn, Matthew Goodrum; four great grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Wayne Alligood of Washington, North Carolina, Carl Dawson Alligood (estranged).

    The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 10, 2015 from 6-8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

    A visitation will be held at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, North Carolina on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 2-3pm with a graveside to immediately follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington, NC.
