    Billy Earl Davenport, Sr, age 73, a resident of Washington, NC, died Wednesday March 16, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    A funeral service will be held 11:00am Friday March 18, 2016 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and will be officiated by Gary Lancaster. Brad Davenport, Russell Davenport, Mike Davenport, Robert Finch, Jr., Jonathan Tyer and Billy Davenport, III will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens

    Mr. Davenport was born in Beaufort County, NC on October 12, 1942 to the late Johnnie Richard Davenport, Sr., and Berdie Elizabeth Garris. On June 21, 1963 he married Janie Mae Anderson who survives. Mr. Davenport worked as an electrician and worked at National Spinning for 50 years. He loved the outdoors. Mr. Davenport was especially fond of the mountains and gardening. He was a long time member of the Moose Lodge.

    In addition to his wife, survivors include, five children, Pamela Finch of Washington, Billy Davenport, Jr., and wife Judy of Vanceboro, Tony Davenport and wife Jennifer of Chocowinity, Steve Davenport and wife Amanda of Jacksonville, Travis Davenport of Washington, seventeen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three sisters, Doris Dellinger and husband Ken of Washington, Frances Nobles of New Bern, Glenda Ingalls and husband Doug of Washington, a brother James Davenport and wife Frances of Washington, and many nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by a child, Gladys Elizabeth Davenport, and two brothers Johnnie Richard Davenport, Jr., and Albert Ray Davenport.

    The family will receive friends Thursday March 17, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:30pm at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
