Obituary: Carol Brooks Willis | Eastern NC Now

    Carol Brooks Willis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 6, 1936, to Earl Seay and Ruby Dyer Brooks of Wilson, N.C. Carol was the youngest of their 12 children. She graduated from Charles L. Coon High School and continued her education at Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C. That is where she met her husband of 54 years, Jerry Thomas Willis.

    As Carol and Jerry’s life took them to several different towns across the state of North Carolina, she worked over the years in area banks, medical offices, and the accounting department of Goldkist Farms in Sanford, N.C. Carol was a very loving and devoted mother to her three children and two grandchildren. She was also very active in, and loved her church.

    Carol is survived by her husband, Jerry Thomas Willis of Sanford, N.C., and her three children, her daughter Sydna Brooke Willis of Clayton, N.C.; her son Thomas Ashley Willis and his wife Donna and their two daughters, Morgan Brook and Taylor Kay of Holly Springs, N.C.; and her son Peyton Willis of Sanford, N.C. She is also survived by her brother, Vallie Carlton Brooks of Nashville, Tenn., and her sister, Sue Brooks Ferrell of Wilson, N.C.

    The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Miller-Boles Funeral Home of Sanford. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at St. Luke UMC in Sanford, N.C. A graveside service will follow at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 809 Wicker St., Sanford, NC 27330.
