News Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory are raising awareness for child abuse and neglect. Nearly 500 pinwheels will be on display at the Executive Mansion throughout the month of April as part of a national campaign called Pinwheels for Prevention.

"Protecting children throughout North Carolina from abuse, neglect and other dangers is a top priority of my administration," said Governor McCrory. "Child abuse prevents too many children from reaching their full potential. This display will serve as a poignant reminder to do all we can to ensure every child has a strong community of support to help them pursue a long and happy life."

During the month of April, pinwheel gardens will be planted throughout North Carolina and across the nation to recognize the work being done to support and strengthen families so children can thrive. Pinwheels for Prevention was started to symbolize the great quality of life that all children deserve.

Pinwheels on display at the Executive Mansion have been donated by Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina, a statewide organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Governor McCrory has declared April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in North Carolina. To view the proclamation, click here.
