Umbrella Market Brings the Bacon | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

If you're anything like us, you've sat at the table admiring your bacon thinking, "This is good bacon. But is it really the best bacon?" Well, you can put your bacon cogitations to rest by coming to Uptown Greenville's Umbrella Market at Five Points Plaza this Wednesday, May 25, at 5:30.

If you want to be part of one of the most exciting porcine events to come downtown in the history of Greenville, you might want to get here early. Tickets are $10 each, and only 70 will be sold. Get yours here: http://uptowngreenville.com/play/umbrella-market/. Tickets will also be available when the Market opens at 5.

Think your bacon is where it's at? Contact Robin Ashley, Market Manager, no later than Tuesday (5/24) at robin@uptowngreenville.com and tell her about your bacon-inspired creation or that special thing you do that makes your bacon outstanding. The competition is open to professional and amateur chefs.

Every sample plate comes with a ballot, so ticket holders, in a blind voting process, will decide on the best bacon experience. While tasters deliberate, chefs will have a chance to get in front of the crowd and talk about what we all came for: bacon; particularly, the bacon delight they have prepared. The winner will receive the satisfaction of confirming what they've always known to be true (that their bacon really is the best) - but that's not all! They will also maintain bragging rights as Umbrella Market Bacon Master until next summer and will make a special appearance on WITN's Morning Show. Talk about props.

Since it's common knowledge that nothing goes with bacon like jazz, Umbrella Marketers can enjoy the sounds of the Michael Stephenson Quartet while they shop the local artisans and farmers, spark up conversations with old or new friends, and knock back refreshing Duck-Rabbit and Trollingwood brews.

So, get in touch with Robin by Tuesday to enter. Otherwise, come to Evans and 5th Street on Wednesday - and bring your bacon-eating pants!
