Burr Campaign Announces "Students For Burr" Leadership Team | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Raleigh, NC     The Burr campaign today announced the leadership team for the "Students for Burr" coalition. The team is comprised of students from several colleges, universities, and high schools throughout North Carolina, all of whom will play a vital role in the campaign by helping to organize student outreach for Senator Burr. Senator Burr has made improving college affordability a top priority and as a result, he helped North Carolina students save over $1 billion by authoring the Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act, and also helped families save for college through the enhancing of 529 college savings accounts.

"Students For Burr" Leadership Team

    Ellie Hooper: Ellie is a junior, studying Public Relations and Political Science at Appalachian State University. She is currently serving as the Chairwoman of the Appalachian State College Republicans and the President of the Appalachian Student Ambassadors. After graduation, she hopes to advance her career in either politics and government, Communications, or the non-profit sector.

    Nick Vaughn: Nick is a junior at Wingate University where he majors in Communications. Vaughn entered politics in 2012, when he helped found the Guilford County Teenage Republican and served as the chairman. He later became the State Chairman of the North Carolina Teenage Republicans, where the organization saw record growth, and served on the NC GOP's executive and central committees. In addition, he served as the state Co-Chair for the Students for Tillis coalition that helped United States Senator Thom Tillis during his 2014 campaign. Vaughn has served Wingate University as a Senator on the Student Government Association, as an Orientation Leader, and as an Ambassador of the Wingate University "L.Y.M" organization, that's mission is to give a hat to every child in America that is battling cancer. Vaughn, who is a political science minor, has also served as the Wingate University College Republicans Chairman and the North Carolina College Republicans Communications Director. Most recently, Vaughn attended the Republican National Convention as a member of the North Carolina Republican Party Executive Committee.

    Ellen Knowles: Ellen is beginning her senior year at East Carolina University as a Political Science major with a Business Administration minor. Ellen is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society. She is currently serving her second term as the chapter president of the Chi Omega sorority on campus. Through Chi Omega she has been able to spend time working with and raising money for Make-A-Wish of Eastern North Carolina.

    Jeffrey Biggs: Jeffrey is a Political Science major at Campbell University, where he serves as the Chairman for their College Republican chapter. Additionally, Jeffrey is the Political Director for the North Carolina Federation of College Republicans. Jeffrey has worked for several campaigns across the state in North Carolina and hopes to pursue a career in politics after graduation.

    Danielle Adler: Danielle is a junior from Charlotte pursuing a double major in Peace, War, and Defense and Political Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. She is involved in various organizations on campus including Heels for Israel, Pi Beta Phi, College Republicans, and Paws4People. She is also a contributing staff writer for the "Carolina Review," UNC's only conservative student publication. This past summer, Danielle interned for Senator Tillis in Washington DC and wants to continue serving the Tar Heel state.

    Adam Lemon: Adam is a senior at Duke University, where he is dual majoring in Political Science and History with a minor in Russian Language. Adam was the head of the Duke College Republicans from 2014-2016, as well as leading campus foreign policy organizations. In the past, he has worked in the office of Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (WA-5) and volunteered in NC campaigns in the 2014 midterm elections. This past summer, Adam interned at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., dealing with defense issues. After graduation, Adam hopes to work on defense or foreign policy on Capitol Hill or at the State Department or Department of Defense.

    Patrick Mangan: Patrick is a first year graduate student at the Wake Forest School of Business pursuing a Master's of Accountancy. He attended Davidson College for undergrad, receiving his BA in Political Science in 2016. Patrick is a member of the College Republicans and the Cycling team. After graduate school, Patrick plans to work for one of the Big 4 Accounting firms working in Deal Advisory and Transaction Services.

    William Comer: William is a junior at Calvary Day School in Winston-Salem, NC, where he is a member of the YMCA's Youth and Government Program, The Ethics Club, and junior editor of the school's yearbook. He is currently serving his first elected term as Chairman of The Forsyth County Teenage Republicans, and previously served as treasurer of the organization. William served as a NC Senate page and as delegate to the 2015 North Carolina Teenage Republicans State Convention in Raleigh, NC.

    Skylar Teague: Skylar is a senior at Wake Christian Academy in Raleigh, NC. He has served on the student council for his grade for the last 7 years and is currently President of his Senior Class. He's a member of the Beta Club, and the Art Appreciation and Spanish Clubs at his School. Skylar enjoys running, surfing, and golf. He's applying to several universities in the NC Triangle area as well as in the Washington DC area where he is thinking about studying Business, Law, or Policy.
