    Semi-Auto Malfunctions Link

My current interest is in small concealed carry semi-auto pistols.

The Walther P22 has all the features of larger caliber guns and great for gun range practice. The features are duplicated on both sides for left or right handed folks. Although the caliber is considered too small for personal protection, the ammo is inexpensive. (22s are rim fire while larger calibers like 380 are center fire.) Let an expert at the range explain the ammo choices.

As a rank amateur, my advice is based on YouTube and a few visits to the gun range and lectures from a retired policeman. Free advice is worth every penny you pay.

I do not plan to disassemble this gun when I can pay the gunsmith $20 to do a professional job. Training videos of semi auto cleaning look complicated. I do not want to buy tools and oil.

Conclusion: This Walter is easy to rack (move the slide back to load). The grandkids have no problem. The grip design keeps their hand below the slide as it comes back. The size and weight are okay for pocket carry in the daytime but the caliber is too small for mid-night carry to the Metro ATM.

Even though I am trying to reduce my collection, this looks like a great plinker semi. I have always preferred Walther pistols. German weapons are precision made and well designed. However since I have not shot in over eight years, it would be a great gun safe placeholder.
