Governor Pat McCrory and State Emergency Management officials are monitoring flooding conditions in central and eastern North Carolina following overnight rain.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory and State Emergency Management officials are monitoring flooding conditions in central and eastern North Carolina following overnight rain.

    "While we have not yet had any requests for state assistance, we stand ready to provide whatever support is needed to respond to this latest emergency," said Governor McCrory. "I have spoken to Fayetteville Mayor Nat Robertson and our state and local emergency managers have been in constant contact since last evening about the current flooding in several central and eastern counties."

    Several central and eastern counties remain under a flood warning including Chatham, Moore, Richmond and Scotland counties.

    A flash flood warning is in effect for Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Duplin, Greene, Lenoir, Martin, Pitt, Wayne, southern Harnett and eastern Hoke counties. People in these areas should not drive through standing water or on flooded roadways.

    Preliminary reports indicate rainfall amounts of five to 10 inches of rain have fallen since last evening.
