    Mr. James Thomas Cannon, age 60, a resident of Mary Street, Chocowinity, NC died Friday, October 07, 2016 at his residence.

    James was born in Pitt County on April 4, 1956 to the late Betty Cross Cannon and Tom Cannon. He attended Pitt County Schools and was a mechanic with Universal Leaf until his retirement in 2007. James loved being outside with his grandchildren as well as working in the yard.

    He also did lawn work for his friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah K. Cannon and Lorrie A. Cannon. Survivors include his wife Debra Riggs Cannon of the home, one son, Roger K. Riggs (Kelsey) of Chocowinity, NC, one daughter, Felicia D. Cannon of Chocowinity, NC, five grandsons, Jacob, Daniel, Zach, Gavin, Codie, and Tuck, all of Chocowinity, NC, one granddaughter, Gabriella also of Chocowinity, NC, one sister, Betty Louise Roberson of Snow Hill, NC, and a special friend, Tasha Heggie of Chocowinity, NC.

    A private family viewing will be held and no services scheduled at this time.
