Federal Government Approves Governor McCrory's Request for Assistance to Craven County | Eastern North Carolina Now

Following his visit to New Bern earlier today, Governor Pat McCrory has announced that federal individual assistance is now available for residents of Craven County affected by recent flooding.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Following his visit to New Bern earlier today, Governor Pat McCrory has announced that federal individual assistance is now available for residents of Craven County affected by recent flooding. Last week, the county qualified for public assistance.

    "Earlier today I mentioned that getting this approval was one of our top priorities," said Governor McCrory. "I'm glad that the federal government has approved our request for needed additional assistance for the residents affected by Hurricane Matthew in Craven County."

    Earlier, the governor announced that additional federal assistance is now available for residents in three counties. Martin County is eligible for both public and individual assistance and individuals in Washington and Tyrrell counties can apply for federal assistance. To date, 37 counties in eastern and central North Carolina have received public assistance, while 27 counties have now qualified for individual assistance.

    Monetary contributions to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Matthew can be made by texting NCRECOVERS to 30306 or by visiting NCDisasterRelief.org. This is one of the best ways to help fund long-term recovery efforts. Additionally, information regarding monetary donations to recognize North Carolina relief organizations can be found at NCVoad.org, a fast, flexible and effective method of assisting North Carolinians who are in need.
