Mr. Jones was born on March 12, 1930, in Durham County, son of the late Azra Jones and Therese Kube Jones. On Jan. 18, 1953, he married the former Audrey Dixon. He worked for seven years with Mackenzie Equipment. He then began his banking career with West End Bank. Over the course of 33 years, he saw many changes as West End Branch of Bank of Washington became NCNB and currently Bank of America. He was a proud supporter of Southside High School football and softball. Mr. Jones was an avid hunter and fisherman, played the flat guitar with Buck Davis and The Country Ramblers, was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the First Baptist Church in Chocowinity. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a twin sister: Mae Jones Card.

Mr. Jones presented his wife a boxer puppy as a gift. “Bear” would obey only Mrs. Jones and it became the family joke.
