Mrs. Ruth Vaughn Pugh

    Mrs. Ruth Vaughn Pugh, age 77, a resident of Mallard Drive, Washington, NC passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at University Health Systems - Beaufort Hospital. A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Dr. Robert Sandy, Howard Smith, Dr. Henry Stephenson, Bill Page, Abbott Morris, Jr. and Jack Pyburn will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy. 264 E, Washington, NC and at other times at the home.

    Mrs. Pugh was born on December 27, 1933 in Gaffney, SC, daughter of the late Roy Vaughn and Martha McRoy Vaughn. She was married to Dr. Raeford Pugh on December 27, 1956, who survives. Mrs. Pugh graduated from Union High School and Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Washington. The family is grateful to the many friends and loved ones who brought her happiness in; tennis, golf, bridge, snow skiing and other adventures.

    Along with her husband, survivors include one son, Raeford T. Pugh, Jr. of Clemmons, NC; her two daughters, Laura P. Bliley of Washington, NC and Jill A. Davies of Colmar, PA; three sisters, Norma Henderson of Union, SC, Jane Jones of Conyers, GA, and Annette Jones of Newberry, SC; one brother, Joe Vaughn of Spartanburg, SC; and six grandchildren, Alyssa Pugh, Ann Marie Pugh, Aileen Davies, Michelle Davies, Meredith Price and Katie Price.

    Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 113 N. Harvey St., Washington, NC 27889 and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, PO Box 985, Washington, NC 27889.
