Obituary: Junius Edward “Joe” Conner | Eastern NC Now

    Junius Edward “Joe” Conner, age 81, a resident of River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Washington, NC and formerly of East Pantego Street, Belhaven, NC passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011. A graveside celebration of his life with military honors was held Friday, November 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Northside Cemetery, Belhaven, NC officiated by Rev. James Harris. The family received friends on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy. 264 E, Washington, NC. Family and friends traveled in procession to the cemetery from the funeral home.

       Mr. Conner was born on December 11, 1929 in Belhaven, NC, son of the late Joseph Conner and Odessa Coviel Conner. He was married to Hosea Lee Harris Conner March 29, 1954, who survives. Joe graduated from Belhaven High School in 1949 and was a veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Conner was a cutter for Belhaven Garment Co. He was a member of St. Reddick Missionary Baptist Church, Belhaven.

    Along with his wife, survivors include two sons, Phillip Conner of New York, NY, and Joseph Conner of Washington, NC; five daughters, Naomi Conner of Belhaven, NC, Doris Conner of Greenville, NC, Glenda Burrus of Plymouth, NC, Romona Conner-Taylor of Greenville, NC and Joy Davis of Jacksonville, NC; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
