    Mrs. Alberta Boyd Hodges, aged 98, was a resident of Arapahoe, NC and passed away at Grantsbrook Nursing Center on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016.

    The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27th from 1 to 2PM at the Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington. Following the visitation, family and friends are invited to proceed to the graveside service which will be held at Trinity Cemetery of Chocowinity, NC. The service will be officiated by Rev. Todd Parrish. Pallbearers will be Kevin Griffin, Alton Griffin, Ritchie Griffin, Johnny Griffin, Eddie Griffin and Robert Earl Carrow. Honorary pallbearer will be Josh Griffin.

    Alberta was born on June 4, 1918 to the late Noah Boyd and Emma Ryan Harrell Boyd in Beaufort County, NC. She was the longest living child in her family. She married Robert Earl Carrow who preceded her in death. She later married Leo Hodges, who also preceded her in death. Early in her life, Alberta worked in several area nursing homes as a nursing assistant. She then worked at Hamilton Beach for many years. After her marriage to Leo Hodges, she became the manager and cook at the family business, Hodges Grocery and Grill. Alberta was known far and wide as a wonderful cook.

    Mrs. Hodges is survived by her two children; Marvin "Bud" Carrow and his wife Cynthia of Chocowinity, and her daughter Lynda C. Griffin of Arapahoe. She had five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
