    Mr. Mitchell Farrow Alligood, age 58, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday January 7, 2017 at his home.

    A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 12, 2017 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Michael Williams.

    The family will receive friends at the home.

    Mr. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on April 30, 1958 son of the late Lewis farrow Alligood and the late Ruth Mae Brooks Alligood. At the age of seventeen he signed up on delayed entry into the U.S. Navy and, upon his graduation from Washington High School in 1976, began active duty. On December 16, 1979 he married the former Genelyn Caunga Gico. He is a Veteran of the 1990-91 Gulf War, also known as Operation Desert Storm. On March 31, 1996 he retired from the military and moved back to his native Beaufort County.

    Surviving along with his wife, Genelyn, are two sons, Lawrence Gico Alligood of Washington and Lewis Farrow Alligood II along with his wife Ilce Rubio Alligood of Washington. A daughter, Michelyn Gico Alligood of Washington. Two brothers, Jeffrey Alligood of Albemarle and Danny Alligood of Washington. A sister, Lorie A. Thurmon of Washington. As well as three grandchildren, Mackenzie Paige Douglas, Orlando Kai Mitchell Alligood, and Ariel Rubio Alligood.
