    Off to a great start..

    March has started off grandly with vibrant colorful works of art from the Students of the Pamlico Art Show, The Historic Port of Washington's Disply in the Art Cafe, Dueling Pianos, our first Jazz evening with Creech and Company and our Broadway Broadcast of "The Woodsman" all of which were so well received by the patrons. We are not even to the middle of the month yet! We have so much more coming up. Thank you for your support and please continue coming to the historic Turnage, we genuinely enjoy seeing both familiar and new faces!

    Membership Drive

    AOP is striving to build our membership. It is an important aspect of our foundation to have strong membership numbers. It shows that we are reaching the community and our community hears us and is responding. There are many levels of membership from personal student levels of $20 up to corporate sponsorships. There are levels that can fit into any budget, and each tier does come with benefits. The higher the tier, the greater the benefits. Even at the minimum level you will receive weekly emails and invitations to all receptions offererd at AOP. Our goal is to present various artistic opportunities in the arts to our communitites. The best way we can serve this purpose is to have as much of the community on board with us as we can so the dialouge of the wants, needs artistically of our community can be served. Join us today.     Wanna Volunteer?

    AOP is offering training sessions for volunteers on March 15th at 1 pm and 6pm. Volunteers are essentail from helping with the reception desk, to tasks around the theater, to any number items needing to be completed. Please send an email to, holmanaop@gmail.com if your interested in attending a session.

    Reception

    Join us for a reception March 16th for both the Belhaven Arts Council Oil Painting Exhibit in the Art Cafe and Group B of the Students of the Pamlico Art Exhibit.

    The reception begins at 6:00 pm and will continue through 7:30 pm.

    Light refreshments will be provided.

    AOP's School of the Arts for Kids $5 Fridays!

    Youth K-8th grade are invited to join in AOP's School of the Arts for Kids $5 Fridays from 3 - 5:30 PM at the Historic Turnage Theatre. Act, sing, dance and create on stage with AOP's Dylan Ritch, AOP's Children's Programming Director. Call 252-946-2504 for details or to reserve a spot. Spaces limited to first 30 children.

    Pamlico Writer's Convention March 17-18

    Pamlico Writer's Group 5th annual conference theme asks the question: "Traditional Publishing, Still an Option!?" A Friday night reception and a full day Saturday conference will be held in the historic Turnage Theater, surrounded by restaurants and one street from the beautiful Pamlico River waterfront. The FREE Friday Event is open to the public and conference participants. Enjoy our finger food reception, an opportunity to Visit with a publisher (present your work to a publisher for an additional $10 paid to the publisher) and see the 2017 Writers Competition Awards. The evening highlight is keynote speaker: Zelda Lockhart, The "Soul" Ingredient of Literary Art.

    The all-day Saturday event ($59) will begin with a panel discussion followed by sessions led by panel members. After lunch (on your own at restaurants near the theater), there will be a Slam Poetry Performance and two more groups of sessions led by writing professionals. The day will end with Author's Open Mic and a last opportunity to purchase books and socialize.

    Not so serious...

    The crew is back! The I.C. Comedy Improv group is back this Saturday, March 18th, at 8 pm for another hilarious show! If your a fan of shows like "Whose Line Is It Anyway", these guys are the act for you. They will be performing in the gallery and the doors will open at 7 pm. Concessions will be sold during the event as well.

    $5 tickets at the door.

    ECU Storybook Theatre -The Just So Stories Sun. March 19th

   


    Based on the original works of Rudyard Kipling. Included in this fun and exciting production are How the Camel Got His Hump, How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin, The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo, The Beginning of the Armadillos, and The Elephant's Child. Young audience members may also attend a Theatre for Youth workshop immediately following the performance from 3 PM - 4 PM at the theater where participants will explore playwriting, movement, acting and mask-making.

    Tickets $5 for children 12 and under and $7 for 13 years and up.

    Cold drinks and popcorn for sale prior to the event. Free
