    RALEIGH: Governor Roy Cooper today announced appointments to a number of state commissions and councils, including the State Board of Community Colleges and the Housing Finance Agency.

    "These leaders bring many years of great experience and insight to North Carolina, and I thank them for stepping up to serve our state," Governor Cooper said.

    Governor Cooper has named:

  • Gene Davis as Chair of the Housing Finance Agency. Davis, of Raleigh, has practiced law for 20 years working with individuals and businesses on business formation and growth, real estate, eminent domain and estate administration matters. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Museum of Art and as Vice Chair of the Raleigh Arts Commission.
  • Patricia Garrett as Vice Chair of the Housing Finance Agency. Garrett, of Surf City, has served on the Board of Directors for the agency since 2014. She also served on the North Carolina Housing Coordination and Policy Committee from 2003-2013. Prior, Garrett was President of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, Inc., a nonprofit housing development and financing corporation, and director of the Macon County Program for Progress in her native county.
  • Tom Earnhardt as Chair of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Advisory Commission. Earnhardt, of Raleigh, previously served as an Assistant Attorney General and Assistant Secretary of N.C. Department of Administration and taught at North Carolina Central University School of Law for more than 20 years. Earnhardt is also an avid conservationist. He currently serves on the University-Museum Science Forum and on the Executive Committee of the North Carolina Literary and Historical Society.
  • Ann Harden Whitford as a Member of the State Board of Community Colleges. Whitford, of Morehead City, has 22 years of experience in community college service, and was previously a member of board from 2009-2015. Prior, she served as a Trustee of Carteret Community College from 1993-2009. She is a retired general contractor and also previously taught middle school.
  • Jennie Jarrell Hayman as Member of the Executive Mansion Fine Arts Committee. Hayman, of Raleigh, is also a member of the Raleigh Fine Arts Society, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is currently a member of the Board of Visitors for UNC Chapel Hill and on the Advisory Council for the Learning and Writing Center there. A native of High Point, she also served as Chair of the Inaugural Committee for Governor Cooper.
