    Mr. Fred Lee, Jr., age 70, a resident of Washington, died Saturday May 20, 2017.

    A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday May 23, 2017 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be officiated by Travis Boyd.

    Mr. Lee was born in Lenoir County on September 5, 1946 to the late Fred Lee and Thelma Howard Lee. On December 20, 1970, he married Brenda Marie Rutledge who survives. He served the Washington Community as a police officer until his retirement. Mr. Lee was a lifetime member of the North Carolina National Guard Association and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Lee enjoyed many things including NASCAR, Western movies, riding his motorcycle and cooking.

    In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Christy Lee and fiancé Merle Howard of Washington, a granddaughter Abbey "Monkey" Gountikas of Washington, two sisters, Mary Ann Buck and Bobby of Washington, Becky Cutler and husband Jerry of Bath, a son-in-law, William Gountikas, several nieces and nephews, and a good friend, Jim Shivley.

    He is preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Gountikas.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday May 22, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
