    Mr. Gary Wade "Buzz" Briley, age 65, a resident of Cherry Road, Washington died, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

    Mr. Briley was born in Greenville on September 12, 1951. He was the son of Kathleen Andrews Whitley and the late James Henry Briley. Mr. Briley was a retired Captain with the Washington Fire Department and member of the Washington Firemen's Association. He was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ. Mr. Briley was a former Chief and Board Member of the Old Ford Fire Department.

    In his spare time, Mr. Briley loved to hunt, fish and tend to his hunting dogs. He was a member of the Horse Pen Swamp Hunting Club and the Cow Horn Hunting Club.

    Mr. Briley is survived by his son, Joshua Briley of the home; his mother, Kathleen Whitley of Washington; brother, Jerry Briley and his wife, Carrollynn of Washington; sister in law, Elaine Briley of Washington and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his father, Mr. Briley was preceded in death by two brothers, Ned Briley and Frankie Briley.
