    Mrs. June Melrose Bonney Ansell, age 87, former resident of Knotts Island, NC died Friday December 29, 2017 at River Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

    A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Knotts Island Baptist Church and will be officiated by her son, Kent Ansell.

    Mrs. Ansell was born in Virginia Beach on June 1, 1930 to the late Floyd Emerson Bonney and Cynthia Marie Land Bonney. On July 12, 1947, she married William Jennings Ansell who preceded her in death on July 30, 2011. She worked in the cafeteria of Knotts Island Elementary School. Mrs. Ansell was a member of Knotts Island Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her daughter, Darlene A. Jethro and husband Phillip of Chocowinity, a son, Kent Ansell of Knotts Island, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a brother, Floyd "Dunie" Bonney of Virginia Beach, and a sister, Jane B. Etheridge and husband Larry of Knotts Island.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, William Jennings Ansell and a son, Robert Ansell.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at Knotts Island Baptist Church.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Knotts Island Baptist Church, 389 Woodleigh Road, Knotts Island, NC 27950.
