Died: January 23, 2018

    Mr. Bernard Elliot Morris, age 91, a resident of Bath, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Graveside services with military honors will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Cooke-Morris Cemetery, 4377 Kelly Road, Bath and will be conducted by Craig Hagan.

    Mr. Morris was born in Beaufort County on September 26, 1926 to the late Noah and Dena Simmons Morris. On December 5, 1963 he married Maggie Ross Cooke who preceded him in death on June 20, 2010. He was a retired postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service, was a past member of the VFW, member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and was a member of Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Morris served in the United States Army.

    Survivors include three sons, Monte Morris of the home, Gerald L. Cooke and wife Judy of Greenville, A.W. Cooke and wife Rhonda of Washington, two daughters, Carolyn Ricks of Pantego, Narcisse "Sissy" Spencer and husband Jim of Belhaven, one sister, Ann Dean Mason of Macon, Georgia, twenty grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, one sister and six brothers.
