    Mr. Daniel "Dan" Boyd, Sr., age 74, a resident of 3017 Respess Road, Pinetown, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home.

    Private services will be held.

    Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on September 4, 1943. He was the son of the late Thad Boyd, Sr. and Eva Oressa Latham Boyd. Mr. Boyd was a 1961 graduate of Bath High School. He worked as a painter at Beaufort County Hospital, retiring in 2007. Mr. Boyd was a member of the First Church of Christ. He enjoyed helping with the Manna Ministries (Mobile Food Pantry).

    In his spare time, Mr. Boyd enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, mowing and taking care of his yard and helping his neighbors any way he could.

    On March 1, 1967, he married the former Kathrine Lucille Edwards, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are his two sons, Daniel "Danny" Boyd, Jr. of the home, Jerry Boyd and wife, Lauretta of New Bern; granddaughter, Jennifer R. Boyd of New Bern; three brothers, Rufus Boyd, Paul Boyd and Mark Boyd all of Pinetown; and two sisters, Lucy Sullivan and Marcia Hamilton both of Washington.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by five sisters, Annie Myrtle Winstead, Callie Braddy, Mary Whitley, Blanche Congleton and Lula Mae Woolard and one brother, Thad Boyd, Jr.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ, 520 East 10th Street, Washington, N.C. 27889 or the church of one's choice.
