    Mr. Kay Johnson Dunn, Sr., age 77, a resident of Washington and a former resident of Ayden, passed away Saturday April 21, 2018 at River Trace Nursing Center.

    Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Christopher Helton. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.

    Mr. Dunn was born in Pitt County on September 19, 1940 to the late Guy and Alice Johnson Dunn. On February 28, 1965 he married Elsie Lucretia Cleve who survives. He was a 1958 graduate of Ayden High School, served in the United States Army, and retired after 30 years of service as an enforcement officer with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Mr. Dunn was a member of Ayden Christian Church and attended Warren Chapel United Methodist Church in Blounts Creek.

    Survivors include his wife, Elsie C. Dunn of the home; two daughters, Kathy Reese and husband Bryant of South Hill, VA; Nancy Dunn and husband Christopher Helton of Seven Hills, OH; two sons, Carl Dunn and wife Maria of Washington; John Dunn and wife Susan of Chesapeake, VA; nine grandchildren, Paige Reese, Kaitlin Reese, Jessie Dunn, Baylor Dunn, Hannah Dunn-Helton, Caroline Dunn-Helton, Adam Dunn, Tripp Dunn, and Kaelynn Dunn; one brother, Jimmy Dunn and wife Marjorie of Winterville and sister in law, Jeanette Dunn of Chapel Hill. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Dunn and one sister, Laurie Dunn.
