Press Release:

GREENVILLE, N.C.     April 23, 2018 - Vidant Health's multi-specialty physician group, Vidant Medical Group (VMG), reached a formal agreement to integrate all eight Kinston Medical Specialists (KMS) practices in Lenoir, Onslow, Duplin and Greene counties.

"Our Vision is to become the national model for rural health care," said Dr. Michael Waldrum, CEO, Vidant Health. "Our focus is always on the patients and communities we care for and serve. The decision by KMS to join Vidant further enhances our commitment to deliver the best quality of care to this region for generations to come."

Both organizations have a long history of serving eastern North Carolina. This integration is patient-focused and includes primary and specialty care, diagnostic cardiology services, a full-service gastrointestinal suite and medical infusion.

"We have proudly served eastern North Carolina for many years," said Dr. Peter Watson. "This agreement ensures that we will be able to continue for the foreseeable future."

The agreement, effective May 14, 2018, is the largest integration in VMG's history. VMG will expand to offer patients access to 506 providers and 780 team members, in 95 locations across 29 eastern counties.

"We want to assure our patients they will be able to see the same providers, in the same location, with access to all of the added resources Vidant offers," said Dr. Teigha J. Randolph.

With these expanded locations and services, VMG will enhance its ability to fulfill its Mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.
