Chocowinity Middle School Student Wins Scholarship | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press release:

Jamya Moore, a seventh grader at Chocowinity Middle School, was chosen as a 2011 Victor E. Bell, Jr. Scholarship recipient. The scholarship, given by the College Foundation, Inc., is named in honor of the former chairman of the CFI Board of Trustees who served for 30 years and left a strong legacy of service to North Carolina. Seventh graders across the state are nominated by their teachers and guidance counselors and then eleven winners are chosen to receive $2000 a year from middle school through the fourth year of college, up to a maximum amount of $20,000 per recipient, as long as they continue to earn good grades and meet other renewal criteria.
Jamya Moore was nominated by the seventh grade teachers and was presented her certificate and a gift by College Foundation Representative Amy Denton on Thursday, January 26.

Brandon Adams was honored as Southside High School’s nominee to the Beaufort County Board of Education for the character trait of perseverance.
