Vidant Health Receives Inaugural Innovation in Workforce Award | Eastern NC Now

    Greenville, N.C. - May 10, 2018 - The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) recently announced Vidant Health as the first-ever recipient of the ACRP Innovation in Workforce Development Award.

    "It's hard for me to find the words to describe exactly what this means to us," said Shakira Henderson, PhD, DNP, MS, MPH, RNC-NIC, IBCLC, senior administrator for the Vidant Health Center for Research and Grants. "This recognition demonstrates that Vidant Health is invested in providing high quality research to eastern North Carolina, and it validates that our journey to clinical excellence is on the right path."

    This new award is the first in clinical research to recognize an organization exemplifying the spirit of creativity and innovation through adaptation, improvement, or development of new processes or tools that result in improvement in workforce development quality.

    "After making tremendous strides in technology and process innovation, 2018 is poised to be the year industry turns its attention to the workforce," says Jim Kremidas, ACRP Executive Director. "We are proud to recognize the achievements of all of our finalists."

    Finalists presented their workforce development initiatives during the ACRP 2018 annual meeting in National Harbor, Maryland to a panel of expert judges who determined the award recipient.

    "The people who depend on us for care deserve the very best in research and innovation. They deserve to have the best clinical trials available to them," said Henderson. "We are working toward becoming a national model where this work is concerned, and that requires the research to back it up. To be recognized for our efforts is a true honor. To make our great work available to the communities we serve, that's the greatest reward."

    In addition to Vidant, finalists included the Joint Task Force for Clinical Trial Competency and University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
