    Mitchel Roger Woolard, 74, passed away on May 13, 2018. He was born to the late Sidney Ann Waters and Reuben Harold Woolard in Washi​ngton, NC on May 14, 1943​. ​Early in his career, he served in the US Army ​and was a member of the VFW Post 6088. He was retired from Gilko Construction.

    Mitchel was a vital member of the First Christian Church of Washington. He was involved in the Forward Planning ​Committee, Disciple Sunday School Class, Peanut Crew, Christian Men's Fellowship, Christians in Action and was also a past chairman of the properties committee. He was integral to the construction of the new church and served as the technical expert. ​His church family lovingly refers to the new church as "God's house built by Mitch."

    Mitchel is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kim Vo Nguy-thi Woolard; his 2 daughters and their husbands, Catherine and Andrew Skobe of New York City and Cynthia and Gene Brown of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his 5 grandchildren, Justin and Hannah Skobe and Mary Peyton, Sam and Lily Brown; his brother, Daryl Woolard; and his nephews, Terry and Christopher Woolard. Mitchel leaves behind his beloved cats, Gizmo, Justin and Jasmine.

    Mitchel's memorial service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, May 17, 2018 ​at the First Christian Church of Washingto​n.
