    Margaret "Peggy" Brooks Gray, age 86, a resident of Washington, NC, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at Croatan Village of New Bern.

    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday June 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Washington and will be officiated by Pastor Gregory Barmer. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Peggy's grandchildren, Mickey Younker, Donnie Younker, Lea Younker Eagles, Lloyd Phillip Gray II, Ashley Gray Zinger and Tom Zinger, will serve as pallbearers.

    Peggy was born on February 28, 1932 to Hilary Brooks and Donnie Mae Cutler Brooks of Bath, NC. She was a graduate of Washington High School. Peggy was an employee of Samson Shirt for 18 years and she did child care for many years in her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington.

    Survivors include her daughter, Donna Kay Younker and husband Larry of Vestal, NY, a brother, Milton Brooks, Sr. and wife Marie of Washington, nine grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd N. Gray, her sons, Steve L. Smith, Lloyd Phillip Gray, and her sister, Sarah Hildreth Shehan.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at First Baptist Church, 113 North Harvey Street, Washington.

    The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Croatan Village for their exceptional care of Mrs. Peggy Gray.
