    Mr. Hertford Mitchell Woolard, age 89, a resident of Washington, passed away Tuesday May 29, 2018 at his home.

    Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday May 31, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Marty Woolard, Ernie Everett, Preston Alligood, Roland Woolard, Walt Davis, Michael Lane Woolard, Phillip Woolard and Terry Woolard will serve as pallbearers. Dwain Woolard, Steve Woolard, Scotty Woolard and Britt Alligood will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mr. Woolard was born December 17, 1928 in Beaufort County to the late Howard and Lelia Gertrude Woolard. On March 17, 1950 he married Sallie Elizabeth Alligood who preceded him in death on November 27, 2016. He was a proud farmer for over 70 years of his life, many of the years working side by side with his wife. Mr. Woolard was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.

    Survivors include his son, Donnie Woolard and wife Margaret Ann of Washington, two grandchildren, Martha Bragg Woolard of Washington, Donnie "Blane" Woolard and special friend, Amber Smith of Washington and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Bonner Woolard, Charlie Woolard, Albert Woolard, Etheridge Woolard, Floyd Woolard, Spencer Woolard, Mayhew Woolard, four sisters, Lucy Woolard, Gladys Woolard, Vernice Woolard and Silvaleen Woolard.

    The family will receive friends at the home.
