EMT, Medical Assistant and Notary Classes Starting in August | Eastern North Carolina Now

Writing a Dynamic Resume

    Want to write a dynamic resume? Need a cover letter and not sure how to get started? Improve your resume by using marketing and branding techniques that will enhance your chance of getting a job interview in a competitive job market. Learn to use key words to get your resume noticed. A fee waiver for registration is available for qualifying individuals. This $70 class will take place August 6 and 8 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Notary Public

    This course is required for persons wanting to apply for notary public commissions for the State of North Carolina. Individuals should review the Notary qualifications list on the Secretary of State's web site located at: http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/notary/ prior to registering for class. Per NC Secretary of State Guidelines, students will have to pass an exam to complete the class requirements. Students can sign up for the $70 session, running from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on August 9.

Emergency Medical Technician Initial Provider (Hybrid)

    If you have little or no medical experience, this course will introduce you to emergency prehospital care. Upon completion of this course, you will be accredited to provide emergency care at the EMT level and be allowed to take the state accreditation exam. The schedule includes online course components, along with weeknight and Saturday sessions. The total fees for this class are $209.25. For funding assistance through NC Works, apply to the NC Works office your home county. Starting August 15 and running through December 5, these classes will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Registered Medical Assistant-Part 1

    RMA is a 720-hour course divided into two sections. Each section has fee requirements. The RMA program prepares students through classroom instruction to enter the medical field in various settings. Core course concepts are administrative and clinical skills. Students cannot progress to Part 2 until successfully completing Part I. Other requirements include burgundy scrub top and pants uniform which are to be worn daily while in class, lab and clinical. Uniforms will cost approximately $105. The textbook costs about $300. Background check, drug screen, immunization upload to Castle Branch will cost $85.     You must have a Career Readiness Certificate of a bronze or higher and high school diploma or high school equivalency. Official copies of certificates and diplomas are due at time of registration. For funding assistance through NC Works, apply to the NC Works office your home county. Classes start on August 17 and run through February 26 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Part 1 costs $185.

Real Estate Pre-license

    This course is required to become a provisional broker, and it is designed to prepare students to pass the real estate license examination administered by the NC Real Estate Commission. Topics include basic real estate principles and practices, law and contracts, financing, closing valuation, fair housing and real estate laws. Diana Lambeth will lead this $180 course. The class runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays all day starting August 21.
