    Jennie Ruth Woolard Waters, 96, of Bay Leaf Plantation, Washington, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Jennie was born May 31, 1922 in Beaufort County, NC the daughter of Will Frank Woolard and Lelia Grey Cutler Woolard. She was a 1940 graduate of Bath High School. She was a great mother, homemaker and worked at Beaufort County Social Services, Marguerite's Dress Shop and Pinetown Elementary School. She received volunteer of the year award from the Washington Chamber of Commerce in 1985 for her work with Beaufort County Schools. In 2015, she was selected as The Washington Daily News, "Mother of the Year". She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a great cook and loved to prepare meals for her family. She was always offering food when family and friends came to visit.

    Jennie was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ and the ladies group, a former member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of the Bunyan Fire Ladies Auxiliary.

    Survivors include her sons and their wives, Leroy and Judy of Sanford, Frankie and Kathy of Pantego, Jerry and Karen of Bath; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Sue Ellen Sharpe of Memphis, TN; numerous nieces and nephews and her special care giver, Sandra Blount.

    She is predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Roy Waters; brothers, Cornelius, Willie, Joseph and Hilton Woolard and sisters, Lyda Maloney and Beulah Harris Woolard.

    The family would like to express its appreciation to Vidant Beaufort 2-East, ICU, City of Washington EMS, Beaver Dam Church of Christ and its Women's Christian Fellowship and her Bay Leaf Plantation family.

    Jennie's funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in Hillside Funeral Service with Pastor Tony Krantz officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm in Hillside. Pallbearers are Wayne Waters, Todd Waters, Jimmy Randolph, Ed Page, Mitchell Waters and Butch Maloney. Memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Church of Christ, Washington, NC or a charity of choice.
