On Tuesday, Gov. Cooper announced that North Carolina is extending the Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (STEP) program for families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Florence. The STEP program will provide partial housing repairs for 202 more single-family homes in 12 counties. Since Hurricane Florence, the STEP program has completed repairs on more than 2,100 homes at no cost to homeowners so Hurricane Florence survivors can return to their homes.
